Exit Stage Left

I just remembered something.

At Oklahoma...right before intermission Ethan had to do his duty. Needless to say our seats were right smack dab in the mdidle of the row. So we had to climb over fourteen people to our left to make our way to the BR. On our way back to the theater, Ethan pointed up and said, "Mom, that sign says EXIT". It did! It really did. I was floored. Way to go buddy.

(Get it Exit Stage Left)...tee hee

O-A-K-L-A-H-O-M-A

Tonight, Ethan and I along with Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Dan went to my high school's performance of OAKLAHOMA. It was really well done. It was actually a comination of high school and community, so I knew of few of the actors. Ethan, I think, really enjoyed himself. It was his first live performance. I went to East Central High School in Sandstone, MN. They just built a new K-12 school and it was Dan's and my first time in the new building. Can I just was WOW! They even have a pool!

That's all.

Another one

So Sunday I returned home from a blissful weekend of sewing, food and laughing. The quilt retreat. What a blast. to view some of the projects the girls made click here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lisannie/

Needless to say, when I returned home, I returned to the land of neverending fevers. Yes, people we are on day 5 of E having a fever. Can I go back to WLBC? Please? Another four days of sewing! I don't think I can wait until March 08.

Ah, the trenches of mommyville! Gotta love it!

Favorites

Well, next week the holiday madness begins. I love the holidays...Thanksgiving leading up to Christmas and the celebration of Jesus' birth. Love it all!

First up Thanksgiving.

We actually don't have plans this year for Thanksgiving, at least nothing set in stone. But I am dreaming of a lots of turkey, sweet potatoes, corn--and of course--chocolate mud pie (a tradition in our family).

What are your three favorite thanksgiving dinner must haves? Also, do you have any fun family traditions?

Tattle Tale

Every morning I look forward to hearing Ethan get up and his little feet run into our room. He usually pokes me and asks"Mom, is it wake up time."

This morning Brian and I were up before our little superhero rose. I was sitting on the bed watching the morning news when Ethan came in and asked if dad was still downstairs. I said "no, he's getting ready for work. Go tell him good morning."

Brian said "Good morning buddy."

Instead of Ethan's usual good morning...he said "Dad, mom wouldn't read me a book last night." Brian smiled at me and asked, "Are you tattle tailing on mommy?"

Oops busted. But I did have a good reason...it was nine o'clock. I used my mommy power.

Seussical

I talked to Sara Kessler tonight at Latte and she is preforming in Seussical the musical at the Phipps Center, which opened on 11/2. I would love to go. Anybody interested? Check out the website for times and tickets: http://www.thephipps.org/theater_productions.htm

So that reminded me of Dr. Suess Books. My favorite growing up was Fox in Sox, I always made my grandma from California read it whenever she came to visit us. So much that she would ask my mom to hide the book before she would come visit. I eventually caught on and would check the book out from the library at school.

What is your favorite Dr. Suess book and why?

appropriate blog?

Appropriate blog? Just in time for Halloween, Ethan told me a scary story. Yesterday, we visited Kristi at church and while there Ethan hit up the treat bowl--his choice was some stick pretzels.

On the way out to the van he had a couple of pretzels left and I asked him if he was going to finish them. He said, "No because they tasted like brains." "Ewww!" I said. "How do you know what brains taste like. If you tasted a brain someone or something would have to have died." Ethan's reply "Well if I died mom you could just buy another kid. " Ha ha, NOT! Then I said, "I would be very sad and not stop crying!" He thought for a moment, "well maybe God just took my brain out of my head, but I didn't die."

Ok, I give up, I can't keep up with this kid. Where do they come up with these things?

Ding Dong

This morning around 7:18 the doorbell rang twice. I thought hmmm, I'm still in my jammies, do I answer it? Ethan was still sleeping and his room is right next to the doorbell sounder thingy. I didn't want him to wake up. So I quietly but quickly went to the door. Nobody was there, (I did hear a giggle floating across the air) but there was a treat. Someone started the tricks and treats early this year. There was an orange bag full of treats. Click here to see all the treats...http://www.flickr.com/photos/stitchedbyt/

Happy Halloween everybody.

God, books and flowers

So I am a page and a half into this new book, (Thanks to Jen Crim for talking about it at the September Latte!) and all I can say is WOW! Looking forward to reading more. The book is called "The Excellent Wife" by Martha Peace.

My favorite line of the first chapter is:

"God has called every Christian wife to His excellence!. Any flower can bloom when it is tended by God's hand." (pg 6) I like to think of myself as a daisy, a bright, beautiful white daisy.

What kind of flower do you think you are?

Crabby then laughing--Maybe I'm crazy

So tonight I just needed an hour or so of alone time. I wanted to go Borders and just look around at the books, but didn't want to drive all the way to Woodbury. So I went to Wallyworld instead. When I pulled into the parking lot there was a group of young girls (highschool or just out of) all racing in carts through the parking lot. It made me crabby---just get out of my way. I went, parked and got out of my card and listened to the girls giggling loudly (to me--obnoxiously) and I though.."Great, I just want some quiet." As I walked into the store I passed the pumpkin bin and there was a laugh coming from the bottom of the bin--I rolled my eyes as the giggling girl popped out. I started to laugh cuz it was Hannah. Kristi's Hannah. Made me wish I were just out of high school again.

So here's to Hannah....thanks for making me laugh and lifting me out of my crabby mood.

This probably doesn't make a good post, but whatever! :)

Watching Weight--A Brand New Day

Well, I am not surprised. I have put on 7 pound since September 1st. It is my fault. Not tracking my points, stuffing my face with food I know isn't good for me. But today is a brand new day. Im tracking again and went to aerobics, and and spending the afternoon with a girlfriend I have seen in a LONG time.

Horray for friends.

Farewell Ms. Kerr

Deborah Kerr passed away today. One of my favorite movies is "An Affair to Remember" which another of my all time favorites "Sleepless in Seattle" is based on. So here's to Ms. Kerr. God's blessings on you, rest in peace.

Nice surprise

Ethan and I were driving home from the RF library this morning and what did we see? A bald eagle and his mate. VERY COOL. They were both perch in a tree and when we came to a stop the lady eagle took off very majestically, but the male bird just stayed there feathers ruffling in the wind. What a beautfiful site. Too bad I didn't have my camera with.

Dirty Little Secret

I have a dirty little secret. Well, it's not a secret. I am a HORRIBLE housekeeper. I can't keep up and when I do have the time, I am too tired to do anything and I squander it away watching TV. Horrible, Horrible, horrible. How do all the neat freaks do it. I just can't wrap my brain around keeping a housekeeping schedule. GRRR. My prayer is that I can get grip on this and never let go.

What are your tips for cleaning?
